Forest Technician / Forester – Upper Valley Forest Management (UVFM)

Upper Valley Forest Management (UVFM) is a consulting forestry practice serving landowners across Vermont and New Hampshire. We manage over 250 properties, helping clients balance timber production, wildlife habitat, and long-term stewardship.
We are hiring a full-time Forest Technician or Forester for a permanent staff position. The role is flexible depending on experience:
- Early-career candidates will gain hands-on training, mentorship, and progressive responsibility.
- Experienced foresters will have opportunities for autonomy, project leadership, and direct landowner engagement.
Responsibilities include: forest inventory, cruising, GPS/GIS mapping, harvest layout and oversight, regeneration and habitat assessments, data collection (Forest Metrix PRO), and preparation of maps and management plan components.
Qualifications: degree in Forestry/Natural Resources (B.S. preferred; A.S. considered), strong tree/plant ID skills, comfort working independently in rugged terrain, and a valid driver’s license. Experience with QGIS, Forest Metrix PRO, or timber harvest planning is a plus.
